“Implementation of Islamic Laws” Int’l Seminar in Indonesia

An international seminar on “implementation of Islamic laws in the contemporary world was held at Shari’ah and Law Faculty of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University of Jakarta, Indonesia.


According to IQNA’s branch in East Asia, the two-day program was attended by eminent figures from Indonesia, Malaysia, Morocco, Turkey, Austria, Tunisia, Syria, Egypt, Sudan, Switzerland and Iran.



Democracy and Shari’ah in the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran was the theme of a paper presented by Ebrahimian, Iranian cultural attaché in the seminar.



He clarified the principles of Shari’ah in the Constitution, and considered the fourth principle as the most important for implementation of Islamic laws in Iran.



He noted that the Vali-e Faqih (Guardian Jurist) plays a very important role in direction of organizations and institutes to the right path.



The official also discussed the roles of the Legislative, Judicial and Executive Branches of the government to guarantee the religious political system of the country and analyzed principles related to each of the three branches in the Constitution from judiciary and jurisprudential point of view.



Ebrahimian noted that Iran is the only country which, both in theory and practice, stresses the implementation of Islamic laws and observation of religious injunctions in the society.



Mashkuri Abdullah, a lecturer of the faculty, also presented a speech on the political theory of Islam and its application in the contemporary world.



He further referred to the problems in Syria and other Arab countries considering such problems as the results of the conflict between the political theory of Islam and the practice of governors and noted that the solution is that the governors take into consideration the Islamic nature of government.
