Quran Memorization Competition Held in Rwanda

A national competition on memorization of the Holy Quran was held in Rwanda by the country’s Muslim Association.


According to International Islamic News Agency (IINA), 50 male and female memorizers of the Quran  participated in the competition.

It was organized in cooperation with the International Association of Quran Memorization.

The categories of the competition included memorization of the entire Quran and memorization of 20, 15, 10, 5 and 2 Juzes (parts) of the Quran.

Islam is the largest minority religion in Rwanda, practiced by about 5 percent of the total population according to 2006 census.

Formed in 1964, the Islamic association represents Muslims in the Rwanda. Its objectives are teaching Islamic beliefs, and educating Rwandans about different issues like health, reconciliation, etc.
