Some 25,000 Participants Expected at Nat’l Quran Contest for Youths, Athletes

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The third edition of a national Quran competition for the youth and athletes in Iran is expected to be attended by some 25,000 individuals, an official said.

Speaking to IQNA, Abdol Hamid Ahmadi, the cultural, educational and research deputy of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, said the contest will be held in the categories of Tahqiq and Tarteel recitation, memorization of one Juz (part), memorization of ten Juzes, thematic interpretation of the Quran and thematic memorization of Hadiths.

He said the goal for the competition is to prepare the ground for further acquaintance of the youth and athletes with the teachings of the Holy Quran and promote the Quranic culture among them.

Teenagers and youths aged 15 to 29 as well as athletes active in different sports fields can take part in the Quranic event, Ahmadi added.

He said there will be three stages, namely city, provincial and nationwide rounds, noting that registration for the city stage will being later this month.

The final stage is slated to be held in autumn, Ahmadi stated.

He went on to say that the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports will organize the event in cooperation with a number of other bodies, including the Iranian Academics’ Quranic Activities Organization.
