Specialized Quranic Seminars to Be Held in Egypt

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Egypt’s minister of Awqaf (endowments) announced that specialized seminars on “schools of Quran interpretation” and “thematic interpretation of Quran” will be held on the sidelines of the 27th edition of the country’s international Quran competition.

 

According to youm7.com, Muhammad Mokhtar Goma said in a statement that this year’s international Quranic event will start on February 8 with outstanding participation of Quran activists from different countries.

He said that some Quranic and cultural programs have been planned to be held on the sidelines of the international Quran contest.

He added that top Egyptian Qaris have been invited to attend the opening ceremony of the competition, which is named after the late Qari “Abdul Basit Abdul Samad”.

A number of eminent Quran reciters including those who have passed away will be honored and commemorated in the ceremony, he said.

Winners of this year’s competition will be selected as members of Egypt’s Quran Reciters Union and the first rank winners of Quran memorization and interpretation categories will become members of the Quranic Studies Association of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs.

Honoring some veteran Qaris and top Quran teachers of the country as well as visits to historical places in Cairo and the Awqaf International Academy will be among the sideline programs of the competition.

There will also be specialized programs, including seminars on “thematic interpretation of Quran”, “contemporary revision of Quranic studies and Quran interpretation sources”, and “top Qaris, experts in science of Qira’at (Quran recitations)”.
