The IUMS’s board of trustees decided to dismiss Ali Gomaa for his controversial Fatwas and comments, according to alquds website.
Board member Wasfi Abu Zeid said the IUMS decided unanimously to sack him in a meeting back in May.
Gomaa has received an official notification about the decision, he went on to say.
Abu Zeid said the reason for his dismissal was his controversial opinions and Fatwas, such as those regarding Hijab, suicide and alcoholic drinks.
The IUMS has also dimissed the chairman of the UAE Fatwa Council, Abdullah Bin Bayyah, and the religious consultant to the Court of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Farouk Hamadeh, according to other sources.
