TEHRAN (IQNA) – The enemies of the Islamic Ummah seek to distort religious concepts to lead Muslims astray and dominate them, the leader of Yemen’s popular Ansarullah resistance movement said.

Abdul Malik Badreddin al-Houthi

In a speech in the capital Sana’a on Monday marking Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), Abdul Malik Badreddin al-Houthi added that the adversaries, including the Americans and Zionists, want to deviate Muslims from the path of the truth in all aspects of life.

If the enemies manage to distance the Ummah from true independence, they can gain dominance over Muslims, he stated, according to Al-Alam news network.

Houthi described what the US and the Zionist regime do as the continuation of the approach of Yazid bin Muawiya, the Ummayid tryant who killed Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions in the 680 AD Battle of Karbala.

He added that those serving the interests of the US and the Israeli regime are like Yazid, Shimr and Ibn Ziyad (those involved in the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions).

“In the face of oppression and injustice, we must adopt the same stance as that of Imam Hussein (AS) and never bow our heads,” the Yemeni leader stressed.

He further condemned those corrupt scholars in the Muslim world who seek to justify normalization of ties with the Israeli regime and subordination to the Americans.

Yemenis held processions in Sana’a and other cities of the country on Monday to mark Ashura- the tenth day of the lunar Hijri month of Muharram and mourn the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS).
