Smirnov in his address referred to 15 years of active and fruitful cooperation between RAS Institute of Philosophy and the Ibn Sina Foundation and said the Islamic studies conference is among the major parts of the cooperation between Iran and Russia in the field of philosophy and Islam.

Jalali said described holding such scholarly events as necessary and useful for promotion of cultural ties between the two countries, saying that while Western countries seek to tarnish Islam’s image and insult Islamic sanctities, enhancing mutual understanding and introducing the Islamic-Iranian civilization is important.

Hadavi hailed the participation of Iranian and Russian scholars at the conference, saying it has been held as a step on the path of academic cooperation between Iran and Russia.

He noted that Iranian scholars have played a main role in the growth of the Islamic civilization and that scholarly and research activities have developed significantly in Iran since the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
