As the only Quranic center established in Albania, the Albanian Quranic Institute affiliated to Al-Mustafa International University is considered a great step towards dissemination of religious culture in this country.

This is according to Sabriya Fayza, Quran activist in Albania, who told IQNA that 75 percent of the country’s population is Muslim and that there is need for more efforts to spread religious and Quranic teachings.

She said there are various Islamic institutes in Albania conducting social activities, but the Albanian Quranic Institute is the only center involved in Quranic activities in this European country.
It was officially founded by the international university in 2000 in Tirana with the motto of “Quranic Institute for Serving Quran”.
She noted that it is open to all of Ahl-ul-Bayt’s (AS) devotees and those who aim to develop the Quranic teachings in the society.
The institute is directed by Sheikh Abbas, a Shia cleric and an Albanian Quranic researcher, under the supervision of Ahadullah Qolizadeh, representative of the university in Albania.
The activities of the institute ainclude publication of educational, scientific and Quranic books, as well as a Quranic-scientific quarterly titled “Noor-e Quran” (light of the Quran).
It also organizes Quranic forums, seminars and competitions, particularly the preliminary stage of the international Quran and Hadith competition of Al-Mustafa University, in various provinces of Albania.

The institute also holds Quranic courses in different cities and towns of the country, she added.
It has produced Quranic radio programs since 2003 and they include a 90-minute program aired every Friday before the congregational Friday prayers via the national radio channel of Albania.
There is also a 120-minute radio program aired in the holy month of Ramadan before evening prayers and Iftar (fast breaking).
The institute has opened a specialized library of the Holy Quran presenting individual and group translations of the Divine Book in Albanian.
Sabriya Fayza, who was one of the first students of the Quranic courses at the institute, has cooperated with the institute since 2001.
