In a statement released on the second martyrdom anniversary of General Soleimani and al-Muhandis, Sheikh Qassim said their martyrdom is an example of the importance of selflessness on the path of God, al-Ahed News reported.
He added that for the faithful, there is nothing more important than self-sacrifice on God’s path.
The cleric said the assassination of the two senior commanders by the United States and its mercenaries was also a US confession to enmity with all Muslims.
He said the assassinations were also aimed at giving hope to those in the Islamic world who easily sell their religion for worldly gains.
General Soleimani, who was the commander of the IRGC Quds Force, Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Deputy Commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, and a number of their entourage were killed in a strike by American drones near Baghdad International Airport in the early hours of January 3, 2020.
The White House and the Pentagon claimed responsibility for the assassinations, saying the attack was carried out at the direction of then US president Donald Trump.
