Iranian Qari Makes It to Final Round of Turkey’s Int’l Quran Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Vahid Khazaei from Iran advanced to the final round of an international Quran competition in Turkey.

According to the Quranic Affairs Center of Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, the preliminary round of Turkey’s 8th international Quran contest was held virtually in August.

It said that the organizing committee has assessed Khazaei’s performance in the recitation category and announced that he has made it to the finals.

Hossein Khani represents the Islamic Republic of Iran in the memorization category. The results of the preliminary round in memorization will be announced in the near future.

The final stage will be held in person next month.

The competition is annually organized by Turkey’s Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) with the participation of qaris and Quran memorizers from various countries.

The seventh edition was held in 2019 and the event was postponed for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mojtaba Mohammadbeigi and Saeed Shahrokhi represented Iran in the 7th edition where the Iranian representative finished fifth in the recitation category.
