TEHRAN (IQNA) – A copy of the Quran whose printing had been halted for thirty years was finally printed and gifted to the prime minister of the country’s government of national unity.

Quran Printed in Libya after 30 Years

Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah received the copy of the Holy Book on Sunday, according to Akhbar Libya website.

A committee made up of Sheikhs, scholars and Quran experts from different parts of the North African country had spent five years to review and analyze the copy before issuing permit for its publication.

The committee’s members appreciated Dbeibah’s support for the publication of the Quran copy by allocating the required budget and offering permits for signing contracts with printing houses.

The copy will be formally unveiled in a ceremony at the end of October, the media office of the government of national unity said.

Libya is a Muslim-majority country in North Africa that has more than a million Quran memorizers.

The country has been in turmoil since a NATO-backed civil war in 2011 overthrew and killed veteran dictator Muammar Gaddafi.

Libya has in recent years been split between the government of national unity in Tripoli, and an eastern-based administration.
