The opening ceremony began with recitation of verses from the Quran by teenage qari Mohammad Tajoddin from Hamedan province.
In an address, Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mostafa Hosseini, managing director of the Asr Cultural-Quranic Institute, hailed the Quranic plan as a rare event, hoping that it would help participating Quran reciters and memorizers to develop their technical skills as well as spiritual capacities.
Abrar Hussein, a Quran expert from Pakistan, also delivered a speech at the ceremony, calling on the qaris and memorizers taking part in the Osveh Plan to appreciate the opportunity of partaking in Quranic activities and spare no efforts to enhance the Quranic skills and knowledge.
A number of other Quranic, religious and cultural officials were also present at the opening ceremony.
Organized by the Supreme Quran Council, the plan is for teenage Quran reciters and memorizers and aims to educate and train them in order to both enhance their Quranic skills and elevate their spiritual and moral level.
The 18th edition of the Osveh Quranic plan will run at the Yavaran Mahdi Cultural-Educational Institute in Qom until Friday, March 17.
