Rare Quran Manuscripts on Display at Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahsa Exhibition
It has been mounted by the History Association and the Scientific Committee of the country, WAS news agency reported.
A large number of Islamic and historical manuscripts collected by 30 centers are on display at the expo.
They are in such fields as Tafseer (Quran interpretation), Hadith, Fiqh, medicine, astronomy, and history.
There are also rare handwritten copies of the Quran, some of them written on palm leaves and some with gold ink.
Among the other data-x-items displayed at the exhibition are old documents such as wills, Waqf (endowment) papers, contracts of sale, etc.
The oldest item on show is a document related to the inauguration of Al-Fattah Mosque in the governorate in the year 962 Hijri (1555 AD).
Sami bin Saad, the head of the association, said during a visit to the expo that such events help to safeguard the country’s historical heritage and national identity.
