IQNA – A Palestinian thinker and activist said that following Iran’s retaliatory attack against the Zionist regime in mid-April, the ball is now in Israel’s court.

Palestinian thinker Munir Shafaq

Since the Iranian operation, the Zionist regime has entered a severe crisis and become much weaker than before, Munir Shafaq wrote in an article, published by Khamenei.ir.

On April 1, the Israeli regime committed a terrorist attack against Iran’s diplomatic premises in the Syrian capital Damascus.

The Israeli attack resulted in the martyrdom of Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), his deputy, General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, and five of their accompanying officers.

Retaliating against the attack, the IRGC targeted the occupied territories late on Saturday with a barrage of drones and missiles. The retaliatory attack, dubbed Operation True Promise, has inflicted damage on Israeli military bases across the occupied territories.

Following the reprisal, Iran both relayed the message that it viewed the matter as “concluded,” and also warned of a “bigger” response in case the regime or its allies target Iran.

In his article, Munir Shafaq wrote that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s confrontation with the Israeli regime began with the victory of the Islamic Revolution, led by Imam Khomeini (RA), in 1979, but it had remained indirect.

But with Iran’s missile and drone attack, it turned into a direct military confrontation for the first time in more than four decades, he stated.

He noted that Iran announced that Operation True Promise, despite its large scope, was only a limited response to the Israeli terrorist attack on the Iranian diplomatic mission in Damascus.

Iran carried out a successful operation using hundreds of drones and missiles and reached its objectives, including hitting the intended targets in occupied territories, the Palestinian activist added.

He went on to say that the ball is now in the Zionist regime’s court as Tel Aviv has failed to respond to Iran’s operation.
