Iran’s ‘Operation True Promise’ against Israel Calculated, Decisive: Lebanese Analyst
On April 1, the Israeli regime committed a terrorist attack against Iran’s diplomatic premises in the Syrian capital Damascus.
The Israeli attack resulted in the martyrdom of Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), his deputy, General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, and five of their accompanying officers.
Retaliating against the attack, the IRGC targeted the occupied territories late on Saturday with a barrage of drones and missiles. The retaliatory attack, dubbed Operation True Promise, has inflicted damage on Israeli military bases across the occupied territories.
Following the reprisal, Iran both relayed the message that it viewed the matter as “concluded,” and also warned of a “bigger” response in case the regime or its allies target Iran.
In an article, Mikhael Avaz, a Lebanese author and political analyst, said dismissed claims that Iran’s retaliatory attack was ineffective, saying the response to Israel was calculated and decisive.
He said Iran’s response was different from previous ones in terms of method, significance and skillfulness.
There was smartness, adroitness, proficiency and courage in this operation, he added.
Avaz added that another important point is that Iran used only Iranian made weapons in this attack.
The analyst further said that by striking the Iranian consulate in Damascus, the Israeli regime’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, sought to cause a new war in the Middle East but Iran’s smart response prevented Netanyahu from achieving his goal.

With a review of the developments and a look at analyses published in US and Israeli media, one can confirm that Iran has achieved its objectives in the operation and that a strategic change has taken place in the confrontation between the two sides, Avaz went on to say.
He also highlighted the precision of Iranian missiles and drones launched against Israel in this operation.
By carrying out this attack, Iran smashed red lines and practically proved that it is an active and influential power in the region and in deciding the future of war in the Gaza Strip, he further said.
The Operation True Promise also strengthened the Gaza fighters, the West Bank, Lebanon, Yemen and Syria, he stated.
